Inviting Jesus to Be Your Lord and Savior
God is waiting to help us – but we must ask for His help
-
- We have to take the initiative
- ”HE waits on high to have compassion on you” (Isaiah 30:18)
- All we have to do is ask
- “In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.” Psalm 86:7
- “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7)
- There are several key elements to get the benefits of his help
- You need to believe in your heart that God Loves you
- “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
- You need to recognize that you are a sinner
- You were born with a sinful nature, and everyone has sinned
- The penalty for sin is death – your soul will will not move up in heaven
- ‘The wage of sin is death”
- Jesus died for you, he paid the price so you could have everlasting life
- If you are willing accept him as your Lord and Savior he will save you.
- “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
- You need to repent and turn from your sins
- You have a choice between blessings and curses, choose to love the Lord your God and follow his ways to receive his blessings (Deuteronomy 30:20)
- You need to believe in your heart that God Loves you
- We have to take the initiative
An example prayer is provided at the bottom of this page…..
He will provide a path forward
-
- “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.” (Psalm 107:19)
- “I will call upon God, And the Lord shall save me.” Psalm 55:16
-
- “He comes alongside us when we go through hard times… (2 Corinthians 1:4)
The path may not be obvious…but it is there…keep looking for it
“…those who seek me diligently will find me.” (Proverbs 8:17)
-
- “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives liberally to all who ask, without criticism, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)
We need to reflect and repent – turn from sin and actively pursue his righteous ways
-
- “I will judge you… according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that sin will not be your ruin (Ezekiel 18:30).
- “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19-21)
- The holy spirit inside us is a mirror. If you quiet yourself and reflect, it will tell you where you are falling short. Continue to reflect and purposefully change every day
- Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. (Psalm 51:5)
