- He is a very articulate biblical scholar, and very effective teacher and creative writer.
- He became a Christian at 20 through an urban outreach ministry to skateboarders in Portland called SkateChurch.
- He has a BA from Multnomah University, and a theology degree from Western Seminary
- He has a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- He is an adjunct professor of biblical studies at Western Seminary.
- He was a pastor at Blackhawk Church and Door of Hope Church
- He is one of the founding members of the BibleProject, an animation project to help people discover and embrace the bible.
- He and his business partner Jonathon Collins have a nack for distilling the bible into digestable chunks and communicating the message in practical language.
- Tim saya his greatest passion is to help people grasp the beautiful and compelling story of the ancient Scriptures and how they lead us to Jesus of Nazareth.
